101 Online Event Ideas

The new government restrictions on social activities means that some students’ unions are needing to rethink the events on offer this term (or at least until the guidance changes again).

Staff and sabbatical officers will be working on what this means for the groups at your students’ union. This will depend on the space available for activities, and what the SU has deemed to be an ‘educational’ activity versus a social one.

Regardless of what is allowed in your SU, you should be planning to do some (if not all) of your social activities online. This is a bit different to what we’re used to, but the good news is - you’re not limited to Zoom quizzes! We’ve come up with 101 ideas for activities that are fun and can be adapted based on the interests of your members.

We ran an online workshop about this, where we provided tips about how to make your events exciting. You can watch the 101 Online Event Ideas session from Student Opportunities Festival on YouTube.

It would be great to hear what your club, society, fundraising group or volunteering project has planned. We’ve opened the comments below so please share your plans, or if you’ve done some online events and activities already we’d love to hear how they went.
