Team Organised Fun

“I’ve dedicated my career to Student Opportunities ever since I got the bug years ago when I became President of History Society.

Before starting Organised Fun I worked for the National Union of Students, leading Student Opportunities union development as the national specialist and Student Opportunities Consultant.

Working in Swansea Students’ Union as the lead staff member for Student Opportunities means that I know how stretched it can be day to day.

Currently I’m the Vice-Chair of my local Skatepark committee; leading on fundraising and generating over £300,000 to regenerate a 21-year-old wooden skatepark. I’m a huge advocate for community-building, social action and doing my bit to help others.

At Organised Fun I lead our consultancy work and drive our strategy forward. I love working on projects that drive impact in Student Opportunities and encourage innovation.”

“My career started outside of the student movement so I bring a fresh perspective to what we do.

As a recent university student myself, studying Philosophy, Communication and Society. I’m really keen to draw from what I learn and apply it in a practical real-world scenario while providing a student perspective.

Within Organised Fun I lead on our large-scale events like the NSVAs and Student Opportunities Festival. I also maintain the website, keep our workflows efficient and manage the finances.”

“My name is Jamie and I am currently the Chief Executive for the Union of Kingston Students. I have worked in SU’s for 13 years and have been an Activities Sabb at Brighton SU, Societies Coordinator and Student Opportunities Manager at Middlesex SU and Chief Executive at University for the Creative Arts SU and at Kingston.

I wouldn’t have been in my role today had I not first got involved in Student Opportunities as a student in my 2nd year and throughout my career, I have always loved working with student leaders and active volunteers to give them the best experience they can at university.

I am really excited to be joining Organised Fun as I am looking forward to being able to support Students’ unions and student groups to enable them to grow and develop. I have always loved the variety of work within Student Opportunities, as well as all of the vastly different areas you need to problem solve, and I’m looking forward to be able to use my experience to support as many students and student groups as possible in this area.”

“Alongside my role as an Associate Consultant, I am the Opportunities Manager at Nottingham Trent Students’ Union leading the strategic development of societies, student-led volunteering, give it a go and student media.

My journey in Student Opportunities started at Manchester Metropolitan University (Cheshire) as a keen first year who wanted to make the most out of their experience by joining the Women’s Rugby Team. After finishing my sabbatical year as President, I moved to Birmingham City University Students’ Union as their lead staff member for Sports & Societies for three years before moving to Nottingham Trent.

I am passionate about developing inclusive, accessible student opportunities – making it as easy as possible for students to turn their ideas into a reality. I love supporting colleagues in other unions to solve problems and innovate their services.”

“Hello, I’m Alvin and I have worked in Student’s Unions for over 10 years, 9 of those have been as staff member at Queen Mary SU, where I started as the Societies Coordinator, and over time taking on more membership and operational areas until in 2018 when I became the Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to QMSU I spent 4 years in the private sector and prior to that as President and Vice-President at University of Chichester Student’s Union. My career and personal development paths all started as a student in my own SU as a part time officer and event’s organiser, which is why I’m passionate about the positive impact SU’s can have on people’s lives.

I’ve recently completed a ILM level 5 In Coaching, and have a Green Belt in Lean Sigma Six (Process Improvement) and am a Mental Health First Aider. Outside of QMSU I’m an Associate Trainer for a specialist training company, The Centre, and have delivered training and workshops on themes related to management, and Equality Diversity & Inclusion to their clients. I’ve also supported the National Union of Students with their annual training for new sabbatical officers, and conferences (with Rosie!) for many years.

My SU staff career began in Student Opps, which is why I’m delighted to join Organised Fun and excited to work with and help some fantastic organisations who want to improve student’s experiences and lives!”
