  2. Identify how decisions are made and student opportunities are funded within students’ unions and how the relationship with the university can affect this

  3. Describe a typical annual cycle working within student opportunities and highlight the key moments and activities 

  4. Consider your professional network and development areas 

  5. Explore principles of good practice for an effective, impactful and equitable student opportunities service

Who is the training for? 

This training is an introduction to the world of student opportunities and will be best for those just getting started.

  • New Student Opportunities staff – perhaps it’s your first job or you’re new to working in students’ unions 

  • New Student Opportunities Managers - particularly for those new to student opportunities coming from an advice or representation background

  • Senior leaders with responsibility for Student Opportunities - understanding what your team need to know to operate a successful opportunities department
